From v1.1.0, exonaut is licensed under the Fair Core License, Version 1.0, ALv2 Future License (FCL-1.0-ALv2). This is not an OSI-approved open source license, and the term “Fair Source” does not apply here either (Fair Source requires the source to be publicly available, and this repository is private). Source is provided to licensees; it is not publicly downloadable while the repository stays private. In plain terms:

  • Free to use internally, at no cost, including modifying it for your own use.
  • You may not offer exonaut to others as a competing hosted service.
  • You may not remove, disable, or work around the license-key check.
  • Every version converts to the Apache License 2.0 automatically, two years after that version’s release. Versions up to and including v1.0.0 already are, and remain, Apache 2.0.

The full terms are below, followed by the notice that records the Apache and FCL version split.

Contributions are accepted under the Fair Core License with a Developer Certificate of Origin sign-off (git commit -s); the contributing guide in the repository has the sign-off and contributor license agreement details. Report security issues privately as described on the security reporting page.

The party offering the Software under these Terms and Conditions.

The “Software” is each version of the software that we make available under these Terms and Conditions, as indicated by our inclusion of these Terms and Conditions with the Software.

Subject to your compliance with this License Grant and the Limitations, Patents, Redistribution and Trademark clauses below, we hereby grant you the right to use, copy, modify, create derivative works, publicly perform, publicly display and redistribute the Software for any Permitted Purpose identified below.

A Permitted Purpose is any purpose other than a Competing Use. A Competing Use means making the Software available to others in a commercial product or service that:

  1. substitutes for the Software;

  2. substitutes for any other product or service we offer using the Software that exists as of the date we make the Software available; or

  3. offers the same or substantially similar functionality as the Software.

Permitted Purposes specifically include using the Software:

  1. for your internal use and access;

  2. for non-commercial education;

  3. for non-commercial research; and

  4. in connection with professional services that you provide to a licensee using the Software in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

You must not move, change, disable, or circumvent the license key functionality in the Software; or modify any portion of the Software protected by the license key to:

  1. enable access to the protected functionality without a valid license key; or

  2. remove the protected functionality.

To the extent your use for a Permitted Purpose would necessarily infringe our patents, the license grant above includes a license under our patents. If you make a claim against any party that the Software infringes or contributes to the infringement of any patent, then your patent license to the Software ends immediately.

The Terms and Conditions apply to all copies, modifications and derivatives of the Software.

If you redistribute any copies, modifications or derivatives of the Software, you must include a copy of or a link to these Terms and Conditions and not remove any copyright or other proprietary notices provided in or with the Software.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, TITLE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IN NO EVENT WILL WE HAVE ANY LIABILITY TO YOU ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY IN ADVANCE.

In the event the provision of this Disclaimer section is unenforceable under applicable law, the licenses granted herein are void.

Except for displaying the License Details and identifying us as the origin of the Software, you have no right under these Terms and Conditions to use our trademarks, trade names, service marks or product names.

We hereby irrevocably grant you an additional license to use the Software, under the Apache License, Version 2.0, that is effective on the second anniversary of the date we make the Software available. On or after that date, you may use the Software under the Apache License, Version 2.0, in which case the following will apply:

Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (the “License”); you may not use this file except in compliance with the License.

You may obtain a copy of the License at

Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, software distributed under the License is distributed on an “AS IS” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied. See the License for the specific language governing permissions and limitations under the License.

This product includes software developed by codewithlaszlo and contributors.

See the LICENSE file for the license terms that apply to this version.

Versions up to and including v1.0.0 were released under the Apache License 2.0 and remain available under it. From v1.1.0 the software is licensed under the Fair Core License, Version 1.0, ALv2 Future License (see LICENSE); each version converts to the Apache License 2.0 two years after its release.

That conversion grants each licensee an irrevocable Apache License 2.0 licence to the version they hold, effective on the second anniversary of that version’s release. It does not, by itself, oblige codewithlaszlo to publish that version’s source to the public at the conversion date. Because Apache 2.0 permits redistribution, once a licensee’s copy converts, that licensee may use, modify, and redistribute it under Apache 2.0, and the source can then circulate freely from anyone who holds it. Whether codewithlaszlo additionally publishes each version’s source at its own conversion date is a separate decision that has not been made.

This project references Microsoft’s Exchange Online PowerShell documentation (the office-docs-powershell repository Microsoft publishes on GitHub) as a git submodule for cmdlet grounding. That content is owned by Microsoft and licensed under its own terms (CC BY 4.0 / MIT as stated in that repository); it is not covered by this project’s license.
